Iran urges APA to refer Israeli regime's criminal case to int’l courts

Tehran, IRNA – The chairman of the Iranian parliamentary delegation to the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) has urged the assembly to prioritize the issue of Palestine and the crisis in the Gaza Strip and to spare no effort in referring the regime’s crimes to international courts.

Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi, an Iranian lawmaker, delivered a speech on the first day of the Executive Council meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in the Turkish city of Antalya on November 28. Zahedi also appreciated the Turkish parliament's management of the assembly in recent years, emphasizing Iran's interest in promoting the effectiveness of the APA.

He further called on the new president of the assembly for the 2024-2025 term to put the issue of Palestine and the crisis in Gaza on the APA's top agendas and not spare any effort with respect to pursuing the Israeli regime’s crimes against the Palestinians at international courts.

Zahedi pointed to speeches made by other heads of parliamentary delegations in this meeting regarding the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, noting that this shows the member states have a common stance in this regard, so the issue of Palestine should be put on the agenda of the assembly.

He also described the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza as crimes against humanity, arguing that if a state still hesitates to censure the Israeli genocide and war crimes, they should seriously revise their way of thinking.
